Great as a snack, with yogurt, ice cream or to top cakes or pies. The slices have a chewy texture and a sweet and delicate taste. Store them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Apples provide many nutrients such as fiber, vitamin C, copper, potassium, vitamin K and polyphenols.
Polyphenols are powerful antioxidants that will help preserve the integrity of your cells and prevent damage. Polyphenols may also promote a healthy circulation by keeping blood pressure low and your blood vessels flexible. They can help reduce and control your blood sugar levels.
Since polyphenols act as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory they could lower the risk of cancer and even kill cancerous cells.
Apples may support weight loss by providing a sensation of fullness due to their water and fiber content. The polyphenols found in apples may also have an anti-obesity effect.
Apples are also an excellent source of pectin, mostly found on the skin. Pectin is prebiotic fiber, prebiotic is the fiber that feeds the good bacteria in your gut promoting a healthy gut.
So many good reasons to eat more apples, try to eat with the skin since half the fiber and most polyphenols are found in the skin. You should also try this scrumptious Baked Apple & Avocado Squares.
