These cookies pack a surprisingly strong nutritional punch for a sweet treat. Here are the key health benefits:
Health Benefits
Heart-Healthy Fats
Sliced almonds make up the vast majority of the base, providing monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that help support healthy cholesterol levels and cardiovascular health. Replacing refined oils or butter with nutrient-dense nuts lowers inflammatory markers in the body. This makes each bite as nourishing for your heart as it is delicious.
Low Glycemic & Sustained Energy
With only 1 tablespoon of maple syrup across 12 cookies (less than 1g of added sugar per cookie), they won’t cause the rapid blood sugar spikes and crashes associated with traditional flour-and-sugar cookies. Instead, the slow-digesting fat and protein slow down sugar absorption for steady, long-lasting energy. They’re a smart choice if you want to curb sweet cravings without compromising your metabolic health.

Satiety & Muscle Support
Between the almond protein, egg white, and dietary fiber (1.6g per cookie), these help keep you full and satisfied, making them a great pre-workout or afternoon snack. The combination of complete protein from the egg white and plant-based protein from the almonds aids in muscle recovery and repair. You get a genuine functional snack rather than just empty calories.
Antioxidant & Micronutrient Boost
Almonds are a rich source of Vitamin E (a potent antioxidant for skin and cell health) and magnesium, while semi-sweet chocolate offers flavonoids that support heart function and mood. Magnesium plays a critical role in nerve function, muscle relaxation, and energy production. Plus, the cell-protecting antioxidants help combat daily oxidative stress.
Naturally Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free
Because they use whole sliced almonds instead of refined wheat flour and butter, they are naturally gentle on digestion and suitable for gluten-sensitive diets. They eliminate common allergens and heavy grain bases that often lead to post-snack bloating. This makes them a light, agreeable treat for almost any digestive system.

Recipe
Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 11 mins | Total time: 21 mins
Yield: 12 cookies
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups of sliced almonds
1 egg white
1 pinch of salt
1 tbsp of maple syrup
2 tbsp of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Prep
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg white and salt together until slightly frothy. Add the maple syrup and whisk again until combined. Gently fold in the sliced almonds and chocolate chips until all the ingredients are evenly coated.
Using a medium cookie scoop (about 2 tablespoons) or a heaping tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 5 cm (2 inches) apart. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to gently flatten and press the clusters into round cookie shapes.
Bake for 11 minutes, or until the edges are nicely golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool directly on the baking sheet for 15 minutes to firm up. Transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
